(More customer reviews)I purchased this door after my cat and a neighbor's cat had a fight in the house while I was at work. I was worried the noise may be too much, based on research, but my 14 year old cat seemed to adapt to that fine. It does work. It makes a buzzing sound as the cat pushes through then buzzes once more as it locks right behind her. One important note: I am unable to comprehend why the internal wires going to the locking mechanism are uninsulated. There is no danger here, as the voltage is low, but when I first installed it two of the wires got pushed together. This caused the door to make a horrendous sound as the latch cycled several times each time the door was operated. I nearly sent the door back but then decided something must be wrong. I removed the door and noticed two of the three bare wires going to the locking mechanism had been accidently pressed together, probably on installation. It was an easy fix, but I bet a lot of people have done the same thing, then sent their door back - or just wished they had never bought it in the first place. If you make sure not to press the wires together on installation the door works good. I've had mine for about four months.

(More customer reviews)I want to preface my review by stating that I got this door for indoor use, and if you're looking for a door to go on the outside then there are better options out there than this one. But for use indoors, this one fits the bill just fine.
I have five cats, and one is on a diet. I previously had a cat bowl on a counter top that only four could reach, but when my fat cat learned to make the jump I had to come up with a different solution. I decided I needed to make a feeding box, and the four cats that could eat whenever they want would have magnetic collars that would allow them access but would keep the cat on a diet out.
The installation instructions recommend installing the door at a height between 4"-6". I measured my cats and installed it at a 5" on my temporary cardboard feeding box, but they were having trouble the first few days with getting the magnets on their collars to trigger the door because their magnets were still too high up. I raised the box up by 2" (to a 7" total height) and they now have a much easier time getting in. So try a test run to see just how much effort it takes for your cat to get the magnet to activate before you cut into an actual door. All four cats were able to adjust quickly after I fixed the height issues.

(More customer reviews)I have had a few of these doors over the years and find them to be consistently reliable. Eventually I have to replace them from use and dirt. The raccoons can still get their paws under the flap and come into the house, so I have to lock it at night. I really want a door that keeps raccoons out and lets my cat come and go at night, so I don't have to let him out every morning at 4am and back in again at 5:30 am... Still working on that though. The smaller door is good for cats up to 20lbs.

(More customer reviews)We bought this for our two cats to use going in and out of the garage. Overall the quality is decent, and it does fit our cats. We put it into a metal door which made cutting the hole out MUCH harder, even using a dremmel. I would like this product to have a place to put the sliding piece that can be used to keep the cats from going in and out since we had to put a hook on the door to hold it but it looks tackier. The magnet is strong enough to close the flap quickly once the cats have gone through but both cats have now taken to using it easily. I do wish it had two flaps for an added amount of insulation between indoors and out, and that it looked better since it is very utilitarian. Overall it is functional and I would buy one again.
